Chronical of the Burghotel Blomberg

The ancient town of Blomberg is surrounded by woods and nestled into a steep barrow between Teutoburger Forest and the river Weser. The roots of the town of Blomberg and the Burghotel date back as far as to the years 1231 to 1255, commissioned by the nobleman Bernhard III. of Lippe.

During three centuries, the castle of Blomberg was the preferred residence of the noblemen of Lippe. By the will of the count Simon VI zur Lippe, the Blomberg castle was inherited by the line of Lippe-Brake and later passed on to the House of Schaumburg-Lippe. It was only on the 15th February 1962, that the city of Blomberg has acquired the castle from the dynasty of Schaumburg-Lippe.

To open this valuable cultural monument to the public, the Regional Association Lippe assumed the ancient residence of the noblemen of Lippe in 1971 and transformed it into an embellished hotel resort of a particular kind.
